The Ol' Craft Room

Ok. My craft room was beginning to look like my "Crap" room again. :( With all the GREAT finds that I have been finding at garage sales from Craigslist, i was getting overcrowded. Today, Britt and I spent the better of the day reorganizing. All the fabric is sorted, placed in storage bins and labeled. Now it is stacked 2 deep but with Birthdays and Christmas coming up it won't be long before this is diminished. And the REALLY exciting thing is that Doug came up with a board for me to put down so that now I have a fabric cutting area !!! YIPPEE. I was really needing that. I am so excited about it. Now remember my craft room is a room off the work shop in the garage so it is nothing fancy but it is what I have and I am so very thankful for it!!! i do love it and I do enjoy it so!

I want to thank Connie for some great fabrics this weekend. I first met Connie in June when she had a garage sale. She was selling a lot of fabric that her mother had stored. My hubby had gone with me to the sale so I was somewhat conservative in what I purchased. Later I wished I had not been. I emailed her and asked if she had any of the fabric left over. She informed me that although it had sold, she still had more of her mothers belongings to go thru and would be having another garage sale in August and she would let me know. Well, yesterday was the day. Connie was faithful and emailed me to let me know. I was there bright and early! Found many more gorgeous fabrics that will be perfect for my projects along with some great trims. Connie told me that her mother made and sold doll clothes and was well known in the doll community for her craft. Connie told me that she sewed right up to the day that she passed away. She must have been one special lady. I feel so privileged to have been able to purchase some of her stash and am looking forward to all the happy crafting that will come from it. Thank you, again, Connie for letting me know about your sale.

Ok, the fabric is all organized. The room is reorganized. Now to get down to business!!! :)

Edit note: I changed batteries in my camera and just now noticed that the date is not set correctly!

Happy Birthday, Terri

My girlfriend's birthday was the 4th of this month. Because of weddings and other family events, we have not been able to get together to celebrate and have our annual birthday BBQ until today. I fixed Beer in the Butt chicken, cheated on the potato salad (purchased Top Foods Baked potato salad and doctored it up) made a broccoli slaw and purchased a cake for dessert. (Hey, I had a busy weekend, grandchildren are born to young people for a REASON! lol) We had a great time and she loved the purse and purse organizer that I made for her. :) Lots of laughter and chatter! Now I am exhausted and ready to go to bed!

Weekend

My son and his family visited and he helped do some things around the house that I have needed done; motion lights on our garage, the water pressure pump is plumbed and working, garage receptacles changed out and bath tub faucet now works properly. YEA!! thank you, honey... Oh and I baby sat my youngest on Saturday so had to get a pic of her in here. lol She had found a sticker left behind by one of her cousins and was so delighted with it on the tip of her finger! :)

If you decide to buy, please note that she DOES take special orders for color combinations, so if you don't see the colors you would like, contact her and she will work with you to get you what you want. :)

Next are 2 more purse organizes that I have made as gifts and lastly I made 2 totes like this brown one out of some quilted material that I picked up at a garage sale for 50 cents!!!! And the webbing? I got the whole roll of it for a $1! What a find! The purse organizer is made from garage sale material also. LOVE IT!!!

Latest sewing projects

My latest sewing projects. I made 4 of these darling brown with pink sun tops. Cute

And next is a long over due birthday gift for a friend. It is a tote bag that was so easy to make. And actually I have enough of the material left over that I am thinking of making her another one just a smidge shorter to go with and maybe put a pocket on that one. The fabric is beautiful. Upholstery weight with small pink and blue thru out, an embroidered look. UPDATE: I did make a second one, about 5 inches shorter and put a pocket on one side. :) I think that makes it a nicer gift - as a set of tote/market bags.

What a Blessing today was!

I was so blessed today. This is my dear friend, Sara and her beautiful daughter, Leigh Anne. I have not seen Sara in nearly 20 years! I have missed her so very much. We recently reconnected on Facebook. Sara lives in New Mexico and her daughter, now lives in Eastern Washington. Well, Leigh Anne is expecting a baby soon and mama was out visiting her and going to a shower given for her out here. I wanted so badly to make it to the shower but was not able to. But today we were able to meet in Wenatchee for lunch, which began at 11:30 am and ended about 4 pm! Tears, laughter, good memories and good company. Leigh Anne was her Auntie Marcia's little sweetie before they moved away! I have missed her so much too! Every Sunday, she would come and sit with her Auntie Marcia in church and when she came over to the house, she had such a special love for my sweetie, Lissa. I did bring goodies for her precious baby, 2 blankets that I made, 2 taggie blankets and some burp clothes. Leigh Anne was genuinely appreciative of the goodies made especially for her new baby and when we were leaving thanked me again and told me how special she felt they were. Made my day!!! Didn't want the afternoon to end and looking forward to September when Sara will be up this way again and I will be meeting up with her again! Worth the 6+ hour round trip for renewing friendships!

Baby Shower gifts

Got to sew a little the past few days. I was wanting to go to an out of town baby shower for a dear friend's daughter but not able make it. I am hoping to be able to see them sometime this week. This is the sailboat blanket that I made along with burb clothes and my very first "ribbon tags" blankie.
