Paula Deen's Pizza Pot Pie

Pizza Pot Pie

From Cooking with Paula Deen, Jan/Feb 2007

Ingredients
  1. 1 pound ground sausage
  2. 2 (5-ounce) packages Canadian-style bacon, chopped
  3. 1 (8-ounce) package sliced fresh mushrooms
  4. 1 (3-ounce) package pepperoni, chopped
  5. 1 onion, chopped
  6. 1 red bell pepper, chopped
  7. 3 (8-ounce) cans tomato sauce
  8. 1 (14.5-ounce) can diced tomatoes, drained
  9. 1 (6-ounce) can tomato paste
  10. 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  11. 1 pound bacon, cooked and crumbled
  12. 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  13. 1 (13.8-ounce) can refrigerated pizza crust dough
Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Lightly grease a 13x9x2-inch baking dish.
  2. In a large Dutch oven, combine sausage, Canadian-style bacon, mushrooms, pepperoni, onion, and bell pepper. Cook over medium-high heat, stirring occasionally, 15 minutes, or until sausage is browned and crumbly; drain. Return sausage mixture to Dutch oven. Stir in tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, tomato paste, and Italian seasoning. Reduce heat to medium, and simmer, 10 minutes. Stir in bacon and cheese. Spoon mixture into prepared baking dish. Unroll pizza crust dough, and place over sausage mixture, letting edges of dough extend over baking dish. Bake 40 minutes, or until crust is lightly browned.
Makes 10 - 12 servings
